FAQ.

Q: When are you open?

A: Thursdays 1-4 p.m. and Saturdays 11:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m.

Q: Are you a private club?

A: No, anyone is welcome to visit and view our museum and/or view our research archives during our open hours.

Q: Do you have to join or pay an admission fee to view the museum or to use the archives?

A: No, Admission is free. Membership is not required but you do have the option to become a member and support the EPHS and it's work. Simply ask for a membership form.

Q: How do I become a member?

A: Visit the East Point Historical Society and ask for a membership form or email for what information to include with your check if you would rather mail it in.

Q: Can I volunteer and what are the qualifications?

A: Yes, volunteers are welcome. We do not consider volunteers over the phone or via email, we must meet you during our regular hours, show you the collection, Allow you to ask questions and then determine together what job or activity would best suit you. If you are interested, visit and ask to speak with the Curator.

Q: Does the City of East Point own and operate the East Point Historical Society?

A: No, The city owns the building but the East Point Historical Society is a private organization.

Q: Does the collection belong to the City or to the East Point Historical Society?

A:The entire collection is the sole property of the East Point Historical Society.

Q: Can I donate or loan items to the Historical Society?

A: Yes, as long as the items or materials are related to East Point history in one way or the other.

Q: Who manages the museum?

A: The EPHS museum and archives is staffed by a Curator and various volunteers. The Curator is also a volunteer. The day to day operations, research assistance and tours are seen to by the Curator and volunteers, The Curator oversees the collection and make all decisions regarding the well being of the artifacts and materials. Business concerns and decisions are overseen by the Board of Directors.

Q: Can I sign items out from the collection?

A: No, we no longer allow sign outs. you may make copies, take photograph and bring your own scanner and laptop.

Q: Can I sign out items for my High School reunion memorabilia table?

A: No, We no longer sign out high school memorabilia. These are artifacts of the city's past and the wear and tear on the items is of great concern.

Q:Do you sell books? What kind and how much are they?

A: Yes, the "Pictorial History of East Point" which sells for $35.00. The proceeds benefit the East Point Historical Society. We also sell "THE BLACK AMERICA SERIES: EAST POINT GEORGIA". Sales of that book benefit the book committee that works to keep the book in print and the Historical Society does not receive any funds from that sale.
